Up To Code Core Services
Our core services include the installation of telecommunications cabling (computer, phone and cable TV) and the installation of high voltage electrical cabling for plugs, switches, services, etc. in both commercial and residential buildings.
UTC can perform both move, add and change work up to complete build out type installation for both commercial and residential buildings.
The difference between us and them is that we do neat, clean, professional and only do code and standard based infrastructure cabling.
1. Installation of data, voice, fiber and CATV cabling
UTC can install both plenum or PVC jacketed CAT 3, CAT 5, CAT 5e, CAT 6, CAT 6e, Cable TV, speaker wire or any other low voltage type cable you would need. 2. Telco demarc extensions (T1, DSL, Cable).
UTC can install any type of demarc extension you need from either a 25, 50,
100+ pair dial-tone extension to a cable for your DSL or cable feed. We
also use a special Quabbin cable for T1 circuits. 3. Full electrical contracting services
Our main focus is high end telecommunications cabling installations. We can also provide the same quality electrical installations for both commercial and residential buildings. UTC can take
an entire job from design to completion including new commercial build outs to new residential construction. We also offer move, add and change work from a service to a plug in the wall,
Hot tub hook-up, outdoor low voltage lighting, etc.
4. Design and installation of server rooms including racks, cabinets, wire management, proper grounding, electrical feeds, etc.
UTC can spec out, design and install your entire server room including all electrical feeds to cabinets and racks, proper grounding of cabinets and racks, cable ties from one rack to another, cable management, cable tray and both horizontal and vertical cable management for patch panels.
5. Scope of Work/Request for Proposal creation.
UTC can create a standard scope of work prior to a large infrastructure upgrade or new build out. We will work very closely with you to make sure all your bases are covered and that when you go out to bid with the job you are getting consistent pricing with little to no change order work.
6. Documentation
At some point, for some reason a cable will just stop working correctly either due to age, environmental issues, etc. With proper documentation such as wiring path's used, as builts, final floor plans marked with jack numbers for easy location a Network Administrators job becomes
very easy. UTC can create all these above documents for your records.
7. Certification
Certification of a network, specifically the physical cabling is the last and final step in the process
of insuring you have a 100% solid, trouble free network. This process involves using a properly calibrated cable scanner such as an OmniScanner from Fluke and running tests such as Wiremap, ACR, NEXT, etc. on each installed cable. Most scanners will allow the user to not only save the test results to disk but to print out certification reports per cable to be able to give to the customer.
This step is often confused with a simple continuity test that most other companies do.
8. NEC and ANSI/EIA/TIA 568-A codes and standards compliance consulting.
UTC can evaluate your existing cabling infrastructure and recommend changes that will adhere to the codes and standards.
9. Proper labeling of all patch cables, jacks, faceplates and all horizontal cabling.
This is a very important step and one that is often missed or done with a Sharpie black pen. All patch panels, patch cables and jacks are machine labeled for a very professional and long term look.
